You always run around breaking all the rules.

Courtesy of The Onion
Hey hey! I got profiled on the Twin Cities Marathon 20 Questions Blog!

Late nights do not pair well with early mornings. Just a fact. Lately a certain member of the family can be having a great day, and then when it comes time to rest they simply cannot, fretting over ... something, anything, really. Something that failed to happen during the day. Then comes the reassurance, the calming intervention. It can keep you up til midnight.

I don't care what else is going on or what my schedule is, staying up until midnight no longer works for me, ever, at all.

In other news, yesterday I had lunch al fresco with a former work colleague and the dome of my big bald head is a shiny, deep pink. Now that I put it that was, this former colleague was the first person to so melodiously refer to my head as my "big bald head".

The Onion still has this keen habit of just saying things you don't want to admit that are true. Last week I asked the wife to lock me out of my own Facebook account, which has been remarkably successful. However, I have also now become deeply invested in Twitter.

Didn't think I would make that one. Not feeling very strong at the outset, too little rest. Fitful sleep. But I got stronger as the run went on, picking up speed.

This is all true, it's water I drink.

Our Kickstarter campaign to Get DOUBLE HEART to FringeNYC began today! We raised $300 already, and if that were a daily average then we would eventually make our goal before the June 30 deadline, but that is not a foregone conclusion. We will need many more supporters -- and for those unfamiliar with these campaigns, you have to make your goal or get nothing. It's as simple as that.

Take a moment and watch this short video, and then click the link above to read more about the production, and how you can support us today.

Sunburned the tops of my feet today. Ooh.

But also, this: Running through a sudden downpour after dark does not suck because you get wet. No, no. It is because you cannot see anything -- especially in glasses. You are much, much more likely to fall into a hole, sprain your ankle or get hit by a car dashing across the street like a drunken wildman.

Wow. Yesterday I actually got a mild sunburn from my run.

And now seriously, why does my left foot hurt? On or around the lateral cuneiform bone. Anyone? Anyone? Anyone know why my lateral cuneiform bone hurts?

Can I kiss you on the boob?

Observations While Running ...

DUDE: You know how birds make that "V" formation then they fly? You know why one side of the "V" is always longer?

ANOTHER DUDE: No, why is one side longer?

DUDE: There's more birds on that side.

I love that joke. Thank you, Chris Bohan.

Running by the Hocking, however, I saw something I'd never seen before. One flock of birds (not sure what they were) flew up from one band, as another flew up from the far bank. Each was in a single, opposing, diagonal line. The two lines came together gracefully over the river - creating a "V".

Here's a reminder for runners who sit by the pool or wear the flip-flops. Put sunscreen on your feet. Because they can burn. Yes they can.

Every now and then I get numbness or tingling in my fingers when I run. Not all the time. Today, for example, and a week or so ago. Answers? Anybody?
