Eyes on fire.

Michael Rennie was ILL.
The world turns, the days get shorter, we now have what is called good sleeping weather. Morning runs are no longer deathly sweat festivals. At the same time, feeling overheated and gross is a great motivator in getting one out of bed. Days like these are made for the snooze bar.

How have I lived so long without knowing Walnut Wednesday is a thing? It is around the corner from my office. Josh suggested we have lunch their yesterday, the weather was perfect and so was the Cuban sandwich. When did the Cuban become a thing? Who are all these young people? Where am I?

Yesterday the wife took the girl and two of her best friends to Cedar Point. She has a winter birthday and had asked for a summer amusement park adventure. Apparently few roller coasters intimidate her anymore. The boy and I continued his pop culture education by taking in The Day The Earth Stood Still, which you should know is currently available on Netflix.

A man named "Carpenter" comes back from the dead to tell mankind to be peaceful. Hmn.
"... We created a race of robots. Their function is to patrol the planets -- in space ships like this one -- and preserve the peace. In matters of aggression we have given them absolute power over us." - Klaatu (The Day the Earth Stood Still)
I see. You know, last month the boy and I watched The Terminator together. The boy didn't pick up on the irony, or if he did he didn't say anything.

Back to the fast run. Need to pick up the pace, in general. The past month with all the beautiful vistas and also hills have encouraged me to just chug along. Yesterday I started slow and picked p as I went along but today I started fast and stayed there.

Must remember to always keep my back straight. I sprinted at the end and realized I had been leaning forward, I felt it in my spine.

Now is all we get.

 Ah-HA!

Out into the world. This afternoon a former actor-teacher and I met for Dynomite burgers on Star Plaza. Just as the weather breaks Playhouse Square, the neighborhood where I work is being festooned in preparation for a huge celebration.

Some colleagues of mine and I are preparing a special performance event, I am flipping between several rehearsals. Tomorrow I have events to attend at the Hanna, my folks and my brother’s in-laws are going to see As You Like It tomorrow afternoon, I have to be there to represent the company in a few capacities.

Sometimes I feel so tethered to me social media, like I can’t go two minutes without checking my email or Facebook, and yet there I also am, with the wife, watching soccer practice and talking to fellow parents.

Tonight a run, because who knows if I will get a chance tomorrow, I will be so away from here and busy. It is a goal to wrap up 49 Playlists by the end of April, and that will take commitment.

Speaking of which, I have decided never to run the same marathon twice. How many do I have left? So NYC and CLE are out. But there are many others and I may have chosen one.

Temperature: 54°
Distance: 3.25 miles

Oh, how I have missed a cool nighttime run! However, that is as close to a live possum as I ever want to be, ever again, ever ever never.

I was just some towhead teen.

Last week one of the younger people I work with was stationed at my alma mater. He must have been seriously bored, because he went through all the yearbooks in the library, found pictures of me, then posted them on Facebook.

I was impressed. Not merely because I didn't know I looked that good in high school, but also by the photos themselves. It wasn't until I moved into the larger world that I realized how many people I went to school with were obsessively good at what they did. Our yearbook had higher quality layout, photos and design than the New York Times.

As the wife put it, today was a real Cleveland day. The ladies went to orchestra rehearsal at CIM, then we all took the Rapid to Tower City for the Cleveland International Film Festival, for a series of family-oriented short film (several of which were horrifying and made children howl to leave the theater) and the feature-length Anina, which was really super.

You know what's depressing, though? We knew Tower City was a boondoggle - because all shopping malls are eventually, often sooner than later, vacant, depressing hobo traps. However, I did think it had been that long since I have visited Tower City, and what appalled me is the fountain. At the very least, the fountain was always something to look at and enjoy. But it's broken, several spouts are spraying harshly, the waters no longer dance. It's just like this insane, over-sized middle school water fountain.

Anyway, the cinema was bright and festival and very-well organized, and crowded and exciting. So bravo to those guys. After, we took the train back and had big dinner at Tommy's.

So I just ran on an M.R.4 and a my share of a plate of fries. I like running, but forethought would have been nice.

Still waiting for that nice, cool Spring weather. Apparently I will be waiting until Thursday.
