Count the rings around my eyes

For fun, and because I am supposedly in training for a half-marathon, I took the downhill route through Little Italy. Dawn on Murray Hill, running past the vacant stalls and ducking under raffle signs. Another Feast of the Assumption literally washed down the drain.

Stupid ... man needs more than five hours of sleep before running that far. And good sleep, too, that boy still loves to stick his feet in my crotch. Woke at 4.30 feeling as though I'd been socked in the eyes with a wet, heavy, sock-like thing. Took some Tylenol. Usually the run takes care of that but I still have that wretched feeling. Took my migraine meds, I hope that does the trick.

How young are you? How old am I?

All the best as you train for your half marathon.

Thank you! I'm not always whining about headaches, I promise.

Often, I imagine, but not always.

Make sure you get enough sleep, it's important. A couple of weeks ago I ran a 20-miler after less than 5 hours of sleep; I managed just fine, but was very slow. It's something you can get away with once every now and again, but not on a regular basis.

Tell me about it - I attempt to get out every other day, but sometimes I just stay in to get the extra sleep and am better off for it on the third day.

Of course, it helps if I don't stay up until midnight reading other people's running blogs. ;)
