I can go all night.

We reach the end of another week. All of us, together. I will be on my own this weekend, what to do? Think I may attend the Hands Off protest at Market Square tomorrow.

There are also household projects to be done, in preparation for the summer. Sanding, scrubbing and staining at the fore. Yes, I have plenty to do and all weekend to do it.

Distance: 3.1 miles

You're lucky to be alive.

The weather turns, I lose interest. Worse, my diet has been terrible. Sorry. It has been terrible. Since before Halloween I have consumed so much sugar. Also, many fast food stops.

Like, too many fast food stops. I discovered the Arby's across from the building where I take classes. I mean, it's always been there, but who the fuck would go in? me, that's who. Once I got it into my head. Do you know how terrible that food is? Absurd, I need to cut that shit out.

Sugar, grease. And I can feel it in my mouth. The flesh on my tongue becomes sore. It's awful. I need fresh food. Fresh. Food. Fruit, vegetables. Good things! That is how I ate for most of the last year, suddenly, who cares?

And zero exercise. My nights have been terrible. I take melatonin, and when I do sleep, it is deep an full of crazy dreams. But I wake up half a dozen times. Sore, needing to roll over. I only just realized that maybe it is due to the fact that I am no longer exercising, not at all.

I had to teach the past two mornings. Four classes, back to back. Instructing large classes, and acting, too. Last night I slept well, because I had been on my feet.

So, running it is. Let's run.

Good day for running, but my legs are shaking. Worn out, tired, unhappy. I hit a deer with my car last night. There are other reasons this day sucks, closer to home.

Everything I know is going to die.

Moving into another week. It's still only February, but the weather gives the illusion of spring. Many plans afoot, writing, editing, directing ... also cleaning, painting, moving, dusting, planning.

We can't fix everything. But we can always be fixing something.

Route: Forest Hill Loop
Temperature: 36°
Climate: sunny!
Pavement: dry
Mood: all right

And by the way, Half Marathon training begins today.

Stretches: yes

Okay, it's getting tedious. A little on automatic. Neither fighting against the cold, nor basking in the warm. Just, okay, time to run again. Not ideal. Things are going well, don't get bored or lose focus.

Baseline: 178 lbs.
Today: 171 lbs. (-0.5)
Goal: 170 lbs.

Saturday evening was a bit decadent. Swenson's fish sandwich and potato "teezers." Was it worth it? Sure.

However, my pants are no longer staying up without a belt. Progress.

Run away. Far away.

McDonald's Artisan Chicken Sandwich.
Wow. My runs have decreased significantly since the marathon, which was at the beginning of October. And yet I still ran more times this October than any since 2006 - and then I was still training for New York, which is in November.

Distance: 3.35 miles
Avg Pace: 7:40
Route: Boulevard Loop

Exciting weekend. Feeling much better than since my last entry. Last night I was shivering when I went to bed, like I was developing a cold or something but now I feel pretty normal.

Drove seven hours on Friday and again yesterday to see a performance of I Hate This in Oneonta, NY. More on that soon on my writing blog. Suffice to say that, having gotten the kids engaged in a some very necessary housework I really need to get out and move.

Temperature: 50°
Climate: bright and sunny
Weight: 160 lbs.
Mood: good

Brisk run, fast run. Good day, good music. I get an hour or so to write this afternoon in a coffee shop with the girl doing homework. Pizza tonight after the soccer game. This is my good life.

Make it easy on yourself tonight.

Yes. A seventy-degree day came and went this week, and there was no time to run - none. Not from 5:30 AM to bed. Of course, by then it was blustery and miserable. The good news is that the girl went out that day on her own to run around the block. I regret being unable to join her.

Writing has been unsatisfactory, pretty much since I finished that last book. I am not sure what the two have to do with each other, but I do know that they do. What I can say is that writing continues, every morning, even when it is nonsense. And that is something I would truly miss, especially these days.

Meanwhile, my job has put me exactly in the right place at lunchtime to be near a young performer who has 1) the inability to pack a lunch and 2) no sense of thrift, who then invites me to join them at the fast-food place for lunch. This is what I get for supervising the program.

The portions afforded people at these places are unconscionable. The burritos at Chipotle are legendarily obscene (sure, the ingredients are of a higher quality, but there's too fucking much of it) and do not lend themselves to saving part for later. A glob of goo partially wrapped in shredded tin foil? Yeah, let me put that aside for later.

I could throw half away but I have developed a Recession Era mentality that borders on greed. I paid for this, I must have it all.

I feel as though any physical gains (or losses) I have made in the past six months have just dropped away, as muscles slacken and the belly grows.

I am 175 pounds. I have been 175 pounds. I will always be 175 pounds. I love Big Brother.

Temperature 50°
Distance: 3.25 miles
Climate: not raining

A lot of rain today. The girl reports she got two laps in at GOTR before the deluge, but her coach cried, "WHO WILL RUN WITH ME IN THE RAIN?!" My girl and two of her friends were more than happy to join her. That's my girl.
